Technology education is concerned with helping people learn about technology and how to effectively utilize it in their every day lives. Technology education (sometimes shortened to the acronym “TechEd”) deals with such topics as computer literacy, information technology education, bridging the digital divide, etc. Technology education is not the same thing as educational technology which deals with integrating the use of technology into the field of education.

Virginia Highlands Community College will lead the effort to train about 700 people in western Virginia as a part of the workforce development component of the Western Virginia Health Information Technology Education Initiative. Microsoft is offering 15,000 vouchers for free online training in Alabama in an effort to enhance digital literacy. According to State two-year college Chancellor Freida Hill, the vouchers are part of the Elevate American program. |
